Deadline

December 1 by default — you need the money before you shop, not on Christmas morning.

$500 is the figure this page starts from. If you’re stripping Christmas back to what actually matters — a few thoughtful gifts, a decent meal, and no January credit-card hangover — $500 covers it cleanly.

A $500 target looks easy on paper until the final three weeks of the year arrive and the money still isn’t there. Kept as a steady line from now until the end of November, it disappears into the budget. Left until the last push, it still lands on the credit card.

This page opens the generator at $500. Set how often you get paid and the sheet works out each deposit. Change the target if $500 isn't right; everything recalculates as you type.

December 1 is the default deadline because that’s when the shopping starts, not when it ends. Give yourself the whole of December to spend it rather than one panicked weekend. Move the date if your Christmas runs differently.

When the numbers look right, print the sheet and put it where you’ll see it. A goal you walk past every morning is harder to quietly abandon than one living in an app you stopped opening in October.

Questions

Is $500 enough for Christmas?
It covers a controlled Christmas — modest gifts, home cooking, and fewer extras. If last year cost more, raise the target. If you’re deliberately scaling back, $500 is a clean number to finish.
How much do I need to put aside each week?
Start on September 5 and you get 13 weekly deposits of $35 to $40. Start earlier and the weekly amount drops; start later and it rises. The generator shows the exact figure once you set the first deposit date and payday schedule.
What if I can only save $10 or $15 a week?
Extend the deadline past December 1 or lower the goal to what you can actually put away. A smaller finished plan beats an ambitious one abandoned in October.
Can I still use this if I’ve already spent some Christmas money?
Yes. Enter whatever you’ve already set aside (or already spent and don’t want to replace) in the “already saved” field. The tracker only schedules the remaining balance.
